What is Smart City Explorer?
Smart City Explorer is a modern educational platform designed so that everyone — a pupil, student, employee or senior — can interactively and enjoyably learn about smart cities, public administration and civic participation.
The platform combines education with gamification: complete modules and lessons with a quiz, earn points for success and exchange them for real rewards — theatre tickets, city transport, merch and other prizes from municipalities and partners.
The app is available for free on iOS and Android and runs in Slovak, Czech and English.

Challenges — participation in practice
CHALLENGESA municipality creates a challenge — e.g. "Design a parking solution for the town square" or "Choose the route of a new cycle path" — and pupils from schools in the region solve it. Winners receive prizes sponsored by the municipality.

Smart City Explorer is the output of a scientific research project that aimed to create a modern, interactive tool for raising awareness about smart cities at all levels of education.
The main project outputs include a mobile app for iOS and Android, a web administration system, educational modules for primary, secondary, university and adult learners, as well as scientific publications including a Springer monograph.
The science behind the project
The app was developed within the KEGA 004UCM-4/2023 project and builds on published research on smart cities and education.
